Sprecher! A company I’ve become infatuated with after touring their factory in Milwaukee. We got to head back and see where the magic happens. The soda at Sprecher came to exist because people kept bringing kids on brewery tours and they wanted to have something for the kids to drink. Flash forward to: Sprecher Root Beer outsells all of Sprecher beers combined. It’s just that good!
Maple, of course, is generally great. I love a good maple tree. Add the fact that maple trees make a sweet and delicious syrup? They’re an A+ tree in my book. The real question with this soda is: is the maple actually going to be a prominent taste? Or is it more of a sweetener? Let’s dig in.

AROMATICS: 8.5/10
Very nice, very nice! It’s root beer, but also has a little bit of maple scent. Let’s gooooo!
FIRST SIP: 9/10
Oooooohhhhhhhh yeah. The maple is there! And some wintergreen, maybe?
TASTE: 9/10
It’s a delight. I would definitely put this above the standard Sprecher Root Beer. The maple really adds to the palate. Sweetness level is high, but that’s not a problem at all.
AFTERTASTE: 7/10
Sweetness disappears pretty quickly, but otherwise it’s nice.
MOUTHFEEL: 7/10
Standard mouthfeel. No real creaminess that you might get with other root beers (A&W, for instance) but that’s not a detracting factor.
DEPTH OF FLAVOR: 8.5/10
It’s got it! There really is a lot to taste with this one.
SWEETNESS: 8.5/10
On the sweeter end of things. The maple is there, but not bad.
FLAVOR(S) TASTED: “root beer” flavor, maple, wintergreen.
LAST SIP: 8.5/10
Lost some carbonation, but the taste was still excellent.
OVERALL RATING: 9/10
This may be an opinion that not everyone shares, but I will boldly go out on a limb and say it: The Sprecher Maple Root Beer is better than the regular Sprecher Root Beer. For reference, I gave the Sprecher Root Beer an 8/10. The maple flavor just adds another level of depth, flavor, and sweetness that really works for it. Sprecher, you beauty.
